Intermission

Today is February 6, 2022. It’s been almost two and half years since we went to Canada, and the blog of our trip remains half finished. What’s more, the last time I wrote a blog post to memorialize our trip was February 29, 2020. Why the interlude? Well, as you *might* know, the world kind of fell apart in March 2020. My focus shifted from oh-so-important tasks like blogging to trying to navigate the coronavirus lockdown. I had a pantry to build and a vegetable garden to plant. I had toilet paper to stockpile. Of course, I put “Finishing Canada Blog” on my pandemic to do list. But time passed oddly in the pandemic, both fast and slow. Somehow two years passed, and I never got around to it.

But I have begun to pay for my inattentiveness. In December 2021, Team Hubbard scheduled a trip to Spain. The travel fates did not appreciate our scheduling a new trip with the blog from the last trip still inchoate. The omicron variant raged, and our trip was cancelled. No bueno.

Now I’m not saying that the latest wave of infections is my fault, but I’m not taking any chances. It’s time to get this thing done so I can make space on my karmic plate for the next trip. So, flick the lights. The intermission is over.

  1. You guys went to Canada? I feel so self-involved. Just as time went both fast and slow, so my memories sharpened and faded. Some things, clear as a bell. Some things, blurry as hell. Your call for a flick of the lights reminds me that I might need to flick mine as well…looking forward to reading the continuation of the blog!
